Eight Teams To Compete in NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship Nov. 15-18 at Darton

The best of two-year college women's soccer comes into town as Darton College hosts the 2007 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Women's Soccer Championship Nov. 15-18 at the Cavalier soccer field.

The top eight nationally ranked, two-year college women's soccer teams from across the United States will travel to Albany to vie for the right to be the 2007 National Champion.

Competing in this year's championship (by ranking) are:

  2. Polk Community College, Winter Haven, Fla. (District F)
    Season Record 15-4-0, Head Coach: Bill Read
  3. Schoolcraft College, Livonia, Mich. (District D)
    Season Record 15-1-0, Head Coach: Deepak Shivraman
  4. Monroe Community College, Rochester, N.Y. (District G)
    Season Record 14-2-0, Head Coach: Tracey Britton
  5. Pima Community College; Tucson, Ariz. (District A),
    Season Record 16-0-1, Head Coach: Kendra M. Veliz
  6. Iowa Western Community College, Council Bluffs, Iowa (District C),
    Season Record 20-1-1, Head Coach: Ammon Bennett
  7. Laramie County Community College; Cheyenne, Wyo. (District B),
    Season Record 17-3-1, Head Coach: Jim Gardner
  8. Navarro College, Corsicana, Texas (District E)
    Season Record 11-4-2, Head Coach: Debbie Bonner
The opening ceremony will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m. at Cavalier Field One, and it is free and open to the public. Fireworks are scheduled for that evening (rain date for fireworks is Nov. 15).

Games are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15, and Friday, Nov. 16. There are no games scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17. Consolation games and the Championship game are all scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 18. For specific game times, visit the Championship Web site at http://njcaasoccer.darton.edu.

Tickets for the games cost $12 for adults and $6 for K-12 students. Tournament passes are available. Children five and under accompanied by an adult are admitted free. Also, youth soccer players attending in team uniform will be admitted free. Darton faculty, staff, and students with valid ID will be admitted free.

The NJCAA, with 500+ member schools in 42 states, is the national governing body of 15 men's and 12 women's sports over three divisions. Approximately 50,000 athletes compete in one of 24 regions and every year the NJCAA hosts 50 national championships.
